Cyberattacks, outages, and plain human error didn’t take the year off. Neither did we.

Today, Veeam is once again a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant for Backup and Data Protection Platforms. That’s the 10th year in a row, and the 7th straight year placed Highest in Ability to Execute. I’m proud of the placement, but I’m prouder of the reason behind it: more than 550,000 customers trust Veeam to keep their data resilient, so they can stop bracing for the worst and get back to building their business.

Here’s what’s behind the recognition this year.

What’s new since last year

We spent the year widening what Veeam protects and hardening how we protect it. A few of the moves that mattered most:

• Veeam Software Appliance: a pre-configured, pre-hardened Linux backup server with multi-factor authentication and immutable storage built in, and no dependency on a Windows operating system.
• Broader cloud coverage: new cloud-based protection for Microsoft Entra ID, plus anomaly detection for Microsoft 365, so more of your environment is both covered and watched.
• A GenAI assistant: ask questions about your environment in plain language and get answers in seconds, not hours.
• Coveware by Veeam: cyber extortion readiness and 24/7/365 incident response with a 15-minute SLA, including forensic triage, expert negotiation, decryption assistance, and ransomware tabletop exercises.

Different problems, one goal: keep your data recoverable and your business running, whatever hits it.

The big shift: protecting data and the AI it powers

The most important change this year isn’t a single feature. It’s where resilience itself is heading.

As organizations pour their data into AI, protecting that data and governing that AI are quickly becoming the same job. So we acquired Securiti AI and brought the DataAI Command Graph to the platform, adding data security posture management (DSPM) and classification across both live and backup data. When you know exactly what data you hold and how sensitive it is, your backup policies get sharper, compliance gets easier, and recovery gets smarter, because you can restore your most sensitive data first when an incident hits.

Then there are the AI agents themselves. As they take on real work, they need real guardrails. Agent Commander brings governance and action rollback to AI agents, so you can move fast without losing control of what they do. Protecting data and securing the AI it powers, in one platform, is exactly where data resilience should be going.
